IgE Allergy Testing Update: Addition of New Peanut Component rAra h 6

As of January 8th 2020 the peanut component rAra h 6 will be added to the following testing panels.

IgE Peanuts, Component Allergen Panel (LAB3424)

IgE Peanut, Component Allergen Panel if Positive (LAB3423)

Currently, the testing panel LAB3423 is reflexed after a positive IgE peanut (LAB211622) and consists of peanut components.

● Ara h 1 IgE

● Ara h 2 IgE

● Ara h 3 IgE

● Ara h 8 IgE

● Ara h 9 IgE

More than 13 peanut components have been identified and accepted by the Allergen Nomenclature Subcommittee of the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS).  The most important and clinically relevant components are Ara h 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, and 9.  Peanut component rAra h 6 along with rAra h 2 appeared to be the most potent allergens and sensitization to these components is indicative for severe allergic reactions.
